NJAC is unconstitutional, no govt say in appointing judges : SC

SC has declared NJAC Act as unconstitutional which was meant to replace 2-decade old collegium system of judges appointing judges in higher judiciary. It clearly strikes down government role in selecting judges. The National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) was a body created to end the two-decade-old Supreme Court Collegium system of judges appointing judges to the highest courts in the land.
