Judge blocks part of Trump's executive order on 'sanctuary cities'

A federal judge on Tuesday blocked President Trump's executive order which intended to restrict funding from sanctuary cities. Judge William H. Orrick claimed the order was "unconstitutional," by taking away funds from cities that do not cooperate with some federal immigration enforcement. "Federal funding that bears no meaningful relationship to immigration enforcement cannot be threatened merely because a jurisdiction chooses an immigration enforcement strategy of which the president disapproves," Orrick. The executive order could impact more than 300 cities and counties nationwide.
