An opposition-led protest marched to the headquarters of the Venezuelan Roman Catholic diocese in Caracas on Saturday, April 22, calling for an end to the deaths of protests during weeks of unrest. At least 22 people have been reported killed in violence during the protests against the government of President Nicolas Maduro.Saturday’s march was held in silence. Anti-government protests resurged in Venezuela after the Supreme Court decided in March to strip power from the opposition-controlled National Assembly. That decision was reversed three days later. In a separate move, Venezuela’s comptroller banned opposition leader Henrique Capriles from holding political office for 15 years, fuelling additional outrage in the country.
