NYC raises cigarette price to highest in the nation

New York City's Mayor Bill de Blasio backed the bill which will increase the base price of cigarettes to the highest in the nation. A pack of cigarettes will increase from $10.50 to $13, as part of the city's campaign to get smokers to quit the habit. De Blasio made announced the price increase on Wednesday at an anti-smoking event. The bill will also ban sales of cigarettes at pharmacies and require residential buildings to create a smoking policy.
