Cyclone Cook Brings Heavy Rain to New Zealand

Severe weather warnings were issued by the MetService for parts of New Zealand’s North Island as Cyclone Cook approached on Thursday, April 13.The cyclone was expected to lash the Bay of Plenty, an area inundated by floodwaters just a week before, at about 6pm.Resident Tracy Kirby recorded footage of rain falling across the bay at Whakatane in the Bay of Plenty just as she and her colleagues were told to evacuate ahead of the deluge.
