Trump aide accused of Hatch Act Violation over threatening tweet

Ethics attorneys called on the Trump administration to fire top aide Dan Scavino after he fired a threatening tweet at Freedom Caucus member Justin Amash. Scavino, White House director of social media, potentially violated the Hatch Act, a federal ban on electioneering by government officials. Scavino singled out Amash, urging him to be ousted from office in the midterm elections. "This is use of official position to influence an election. Look at the photo and description underneath. Bush WH would have fired him," former White House ethics lawyer Richard Painter said.
