Airport ceiling collapses onto passengers. Contractor blames ‘rain’
  • 7 years ago
WEST KALIMANTAN, INDONESIA — Passengers at the Supadio International Airport in Kalimantan, Indonesia received a nasty welcome on March 26 when a large section of a waiting-lounge ceiling collapsed.

Airport security cameras captured the frightening ceiling mishap which, thankfully, injured only two people.

The airport’s management has blamed the engineering failure on sustained heavy rains.
But locals are furious. This is a new building and rain seems like a thin excuse for what was possibly a shoddy construction job.

The contractor responsible has made an official apology and says it’s working to have the lounge restored and ready for passenger use as soon as possible.
