Drug Price Reform: Democrats Lobby Trump
A group of Democratic senators have asked President-elect Donald Trump to work with them in tackling rising drug costs. The letter was written by 19 senators, including Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. They specifically asked for five areas for cooperation, including allowing the Medicare program to negotiate prescription prices, stopping abusive pricing, supporting generic competition for branded drugs and more. Trump's focus during the presidential election campaign was his promise to "repeal and replace" Obamacare. Since elected, he has promised that he would bring down drug prices, but as usual, did not say how.
