In 2016, Condé Nast Traveler’s editor in chief Pilar Guzmán traveled to Zambia’s Lower Zambezi, on a trip led by feminist icon Gloria Steinem and activists Amy Richards and Cherri Briggs. They visited several women-run cooperatives founded through Briggs's Direct Impact Africa, which works to empower potential leaders in the region.
