Parents in Florida are asking their school board to reconsider naming the area’s new learning institution Innovation Park Middle School. They would like to avoid the inevitable acronym IPMS.

Parents in Orange County, Florida are asking their school board to reconsider naming the area’s new learning institution "Innovation Park Middle School," reports Orlando Sentinel.
They would prefer their middle-school-aged children not be burdened with the establishment’s inevitable acronym IPMS.
Christal Feldman who is among those requesting the change, told WKMG, that in addition to the name, “it was suggested our colors be red, white and black.”
Feldman said that kids, “…don't want to go to a school and wear a red shirt with the letters IPMS across the shirt for athletics, for academic competitions. They just don't want to be ridiculed or be made fun of from other students from other schools.”
A Change.org petition for the name change expresses similar concerns.
It reads, in part, “…we feel the abbreviation of the proposed name – IPMS…is a potential disgrace and embarrassment to the students, faculty and school board of Orange County. We respectfully request that you reconsider another name…that will avoid IPMS on shirts, bumper stickers, logos, etc.”
The school board has agreed to give the request consideration.
