President Trump may be pushing back his planned June visit to the U.K.
According to a source who spoke with The Sun, the trip has been rescheduled for early October.
That individual, identified as a senior government official, said Trump, “really wants to come this year, but he wants the heat to die down a bit first. The White House watches what happens over here surprisingly closely, and they don’t want to create a scene for our sake either."
Since Trump’s visit to the U.K. was announced, there have been a number of large protests throughout Britain, notes Business Insider.
A spokesperson for the Stop Trump Coalition said of the reported date change, “The opposition to this state visit, and to Trump's policies, is growing every day. Whether he comes in Spring or Autumn, or to London, Birmingham or Scotland, we will meet him in huge number to say that the politics of hate and prejudice is not welcome here."
According to Bloomberg, "Trump has been at the center of protests against his controversial policies, especially those on immigration, including the executive order barring citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen from entering the U.S."
