NFL faces lawsuit from ex-players for overprescribing painkillers
  • 7 years ago
A slew of NFL players are suing the league claiming that they provided them with copious amounts of painkillers. According to The Washington Post (via Deadspin), the documents show deposition testimonies from NFL team physicians implicating themselves. The allegations are supported by some thousands of pages of documents. Toradol and Vicodin are two of the powerful painkillers named in the suit. One example states that over 585 doses of Vicodin and 900 doses of Toradol were given out during the 2005 season alone. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy came out against the allegations, from plaintiffs like Eric King and Robert Massey, saying that "the NFL clubs and their medical staffs continue to put the health and safety of our players first."
