Senate confirms Jeff Sessions as next attorney general
  • 7 years ago
The Senate voted Wednesday to confirm President Donald Trump's nominee Jeff Sessions for attorney general. The 52-47 vote was mostly along party lines, though one Democrat, Sen. Joe Manchin, joined the Republicans to back their Alabama colleague. The Alabama Republican, 70, faced a contentious confirmation process from Democrats in regards to past accusations of racism when he was Alabama attorney general.
