On Wednesday, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) has been confirmed by the Senate to be attorney general by a vote of 11-9. His nomination next goes to the floor, where he is expected to be approved as the GOP has a 52-seat majority. The confirmation comes amid fervent opposition by the senator's Democratic colleagues. If approved, Sessions will serve as the 84th attorney general of the United States.
