Trump pegs ex-Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue for agriculture secretary

President-elect Donald Trump has tapped ex-Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue to lead the Department of Agriculture. Perdue had served on Trump's agriculture advisory committee during his presidential campaign. His nomination must be approved by the Republican-controlled Senate. The selection rounds out Trump's cabinet a little over a day away from his inauguration. Perdue, a veterinarian, served as a state senator for 10 years beginning in 1991 and as Georgia’s governor from 2003 to 2011.
