Dying With Dignity

The debate over assisted suicide in the U.S. has been a contentious one. In an op-ed for CNN, Deborah Ziegler advocates for the right for terminally ill patients to choose to quote, "die with dignity". Ziegler's daughter, Brittany Maynard, was diagnosed in early 2014 with terminal brain and moved to oregon to take advantage of the state's Death with Dignity law. In her piece, Ziegler advocates for expansion of Death with Dignity laws noting that despite the financial burden on their family, death was a very personal journey for Maynard and and that the right to have a choice in how she was to die was important for her.
