2016 refuses to end, will be one second longer than normal

2016 has been a rough year for many and most just want it to be over. Apparently though, 2016 is a nightmare that refuses to end as it will be precisely one second longer than most years. The Earth takes exactly 86,400.2 seconds to complete a rotation so every few years, an additional second has to be added on as an adjustment. The "leap second" means that New Year's Eve 2016 will be 86,401 seconds as opposed to the 86,400 in a normal day. 1972 was the first year the leap second was added and it has occurred 26 times since then.
