Donald Trump Tweets That He Could Have Won The Popular Vote If He’d Tried

In an apparent response to news that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by nearly 3 million, Donald Trump took to Twitter on Wednesday morning, asserting that he could have won that contest, too, had he tried.

The election ballots have been fully counted, and, according to the Cook Political Report, Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by nearly 3 million.
In an apparent response to the popular vote tally, Donald Trump took to Twitter on Wednesday morning, asserting that he could have won that contest, too, had he tried.
The president-elect first wrote, “Campaigning to win the Electoral College is much more difficult & sophisticated than the popular vote. Hillary focused on the wrong states!”
That statement was followed by, “I would have done even better in the election, if that is possible, if the winner was based on popular vote - but would campaign differently,” and, “I have not heard any of the pundits or commentators discussing the fact that I spent FAR LESS MONEY on the win than Hillary on the loss!”
Hillary isn’t the only Clinton attacked on Twitter by Trump in recent days.
On Tuesday, he targeted Bill Clinton, who had noted that Trump, “doesn’t know much,” but has a knack for mobilizing, “angry, white men.”
Trump’s reaction was, “He ‘doesn't know much’…especially how to get people, even with an unlimited budget, out to vote in the vital swing states (and more). They focused on wrong states.”
