Donald Trump sent a tweet on Saturday suggesting China can "keep" the seized U.S. drone.

On Friday, reports surfaced that China had seized a U.S. Navy underwater drone.
A U.S. Department of Defense press release noted, "Using appropriate government-to-government channels, the Defense Department has called upon China to immediately return an unmanned underwater vehicle that it unlawfully seized yesterday in the South China Sea..."
Commenting on the incident, Donald Trump posted a tweet Saturday morning, "China steals United States Navy research drone in international waters - rips it out of water and takes it to China in unprecedented act. "
Later in the day, Reuters reported that there had been a resolution and China had agreed to return the drone to the U.S.
In an apparent reaction to the report, Trump then tweeted, "We should tell China that we don't want the drone they stole back.- let them keep it!"
NBC News notes, "The Pentagon says drone was taken approximately 50 nautical miles northwest of Subic Bay in the Philippines. It was one of two vehicles conducting what was called a routine survey and were stopped while awaiting recovery by a U.S. ship, the Pentagon said."
