Charleston church shooting suspect's trial set to begin

The federal death penalty trial is set to begin for 22-year-old Dylann Roof, who authorities say is responsible for killing nine people in a Charleston, South Carolina, church last year. Last week, Roof chose to represent himself during the initial stages of jury selection. Yet on Monday, U.S. District Judge Richard Gergel agreed to Roof’s request to reinstate his legal team for the guilty phase of the trial. Opening arguments in the federal case against Roof are expected to take place Wednesday.
