Dog missing for more than a year reunites with family for Thanksgiving

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA — A pet German shepherd puppy who had been missing for more than a year was reunited with her family just in time for Thanksgiving.
In October 2015, Ruby the dog, only 7 months old at the time, went missing after a neighbor had left the gate open, according to the puppy’s owners. The couple posted flyers around the neighborhood, searching everywhere for their lost dog, but there was no trace left of her. The wife, Zhanna, was eight months pregnant, and she and her husband Val had to refocus their attention on their new baby.
Over a year later, Zhanna was scrolling through photos on a Sacramento animal shelter’s Facebook page, when she spotted a familiar face. Upon closer inspection, the resemblance was unmistakable. They could tell by the way she turned her head, that was their dog, Ruby.
The couple immediately ran to pick her up, and over the Thanksgiving holiday, they had a lot to be grateful for.
