Determined dog: Canine swims 6 miles and walks 12 to reunite with family - TomoNews

BENZIE COUNTY, MICHIGAN — A dog that was visiting Lake Michigan with her family experienced a special adventure that most certainly strengthened their bond.
Ed and Kristin Casas, from Illinois, had taken their son’s 10-month-old Belgian Malinois named Rylee out to Lake Michigan for boat trip. After sailing 6 miles out, they were distracted by some mechanical issue with the boat when they realized their dog was missing. They searched all over the vessel, but Rylee was gone.
Ed sent out a “dog overboard call” over the radio after realising Rylee had possibly gone overboard.
Following by the advice from volunteer Lynn Fiedor and her Lost Dog Search Team, Ed and Kristin spread their scent around a truck they borrowed from a local harbormaster, and put out some food and one of Rylee’s favourite toys in the hopes their pet would pick up their scent and find her way back to them. When Ed started playing with one of the toys, squeaking it, Rylee suddenly burst through the trees from a nearby wood and reunited with her family.
