Texas officially fires coach Charlie Strong, replaced with Tom Herman

University of Texas officially fired Charlie Strong, the first African American coach in the history of the institution's football program. Strong had two years left on his contract with a salary paying at least $5 million a year. He was also the first football coach in the university's history with three consecutive losing seasons Tom Herman, a former graduate assistant coach at Texas, will be replacing Strong for the upcoming season. The 41-year-old was previously a head coach for two seasons at University of Houston, with a record of 22-4.
