Man films allegedly racist family he claims cut him in line at a Florida Publix

DAVIE, FLORIDA — A man waiting his turn at the deli counter of a Florida Publix claims a family cut in front of him in line and supposedly yelled racist remarks after he called them out.

The man claims he was at the counter first, but admits he didn’t have a ticket. He took out his camera and began filming to protect himself after the family allegedly became belligerent. In the video posted on YouTube, the family’s teenage daughter can be seen holding her hand up to the camera and telling the man to stop filming — an act he quickly deems to be attempted assault.

A manager arrives to sort out the situation, and appeared to side with the family. Despite telling the man he is not allowed to film inside the store, he is insistent that being able to do so is part of his First Amendment rights.

Police officers who later saw the video told him he wasn’t the victim because he was “egging them on,” prompting the man to deliver a lengthy rant to the camera.

But even online, the man couldn’t get sympathy, with commenters thinking he made a big deal out of nothing and advising him to just get a ticket next time.
