California drought kills more than 100 million trees

The drought in California has destroyed nearly 102 million trees, increasing the risk of catastrophic wildfires and serious threats to humans. Since May, 36 million more trees have died, according to the U.S. Forest Service. Since 2015, there has been a 100 percent increase in the number of dead trees. California has endured a five-year-long drought characterized by warmer temperatures, leaving trees thirsty and prone to infestation.
