Trump’s Team Denies Top Security Clearance Request For Kids

Despite reports indicating that Donald Trump has asked for his adult children to receive top security clearances, members of his team have indicated that no paperwork has been submitted, indicating the request may have been informal in nature.

As President-elect Donald Trump puts his administration together, there have been conflicting reports about whether or not he has asked that his adult children receive top security clearance, notes CNN.
A report by CBS News on Monday indicated that his team had approached the White House about the possibility of fulfilling the request.
The piece went on to point out that the move could lead to potential conflicts of interest since the kids are expected to keep running the various family businesses.
However, an official with the Trump transition team is said to have told reporters that neither the request nor paperwork has been submitted and is quoted by CNN as saying, “That's not something I'm expecting right now.”
And when Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s campaign manager, was asked about it, she reportedly responded, “It sounds to me that was an envelope question posed by someone. It doesn't sound like it was a formal request.”
During an interview on 'CBS This Morning,' Senator Bob Corker, who is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, weighed in on the potential security clearance controversy, saying, “My understanding is they didn’t actually make that request. They asked if it was appropriate. My guess is that’s not going to happen. That’s not the norm and so that conflict would not exist.”
