Pizza Hut employee shoots armed suspect dead during attempted robbery in North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA — A Pizza Hut employee stopped an attempted robbery when he shot and killed a suspect early on Sunday morning.
The attempted robbery occurred at 1:40 a.m. when three armed robbers arrived at a Pizza Hut near Interstate 85 in West Charlotte, according to Charlotte Police.
The suspects entered the restaurant when it was already closed and no customers were inside. While the robbers raided the cash register, an unnamed employee was still inside the restaurant.
The Pizza Hut staff member pulled out his personal handgun, then shot and killed one of the suspects. Seeing their accomplice shot dead, the two other suspects fled the scene immediately.
Police confirmed the dead suspect’s identity as Michael Renard Grace. He was 28. The cops also found a gun Grace was carrying at the scene, Charlotte’s WSOCTV reported.
The employee has been placed on leave while an investigation is ongoing. Pizza Hut said the local franchise is in full cooperation with the police and the security of its staff was of the utmost concern.
