Francesco Clark and Mark Reay understand adversity in a way that others may not. In this premier episode of the new HooplaHa original series “Stories That Inspire”, Francesco Clark, President of Clark’s Botanicals and a quadriplegic, talks with actor, photographer, and model, Mark Reay about his past homelessness and together they share the positive side of adversity!

Clark’s Botanicals was born when founder and president, Francesco Clark, suffered major central nervous system injuries when he accidentally dove into the shallow end of a swimming pool, unable to walk again. With a 19 percent chance to live, the odds were not in his favor, but that didn’t deter his motivation. “My life didn’t just go on.. it got better”, said Clark.

Mark Reay, who was a featured subject on 60 Minutes and in the award winning documentary Homme Less, speaks out about the 6 years when his home was a rooftop in New York City’s East Village… after going broke living the fast life of a fashion photographer in the South of France. Mark Reay’s advice to us all is to “give to others.” Living on a rooftop didn’t stop Mark Reay from volunteering his time to others and in fact, winning awards for his efforts.

Together, Francesco and Mark share their stories of adversity and the obstacles they’ve faced in overcoming them. And they teach us that with courage, strength, and determination anything is possible!
