Clinton arrives in Burma

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has arrived in Burma for her three day official visit.

The historic visit is the first by a top level US official since military rule began in Burma 50 years ago.

Clinton travelled to the capital, Naypyidaw, where she is expected to meet with President Thein Sein, and other government ministers. She will also meet leader of the National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi.

Aung San Suu Kyi spoke positively about the visit at a video conference on the day of Clinton's arrival saying the "United States have got it just right" and reiterating their stance on sanctions.

Before her departure on Wednesday Clinton told a news conference in South Korea that she was cautiously optimistic that democratic reforms in Burma could develop into a movement for change.
