Giant Panda’s treatment for heart condition

Giant pandas hide their age well with all that fur... including the San Diego Zoo's Gao Gao, who is considered a senior at 26-years-old.He recently got an ultrasound to allow veterinary staff to take a closer look at his heart."So Gao Gao is an older panda and he does have a heart condition called pulmonic stenosis where a part below one of his valves is narrowed. So we have him on medications and this allows us to monitor our effective treatments and it also monitors for progression so that we can keep him happy and healthy."Through positive reinforcement, Gao Gao's keepers have trained him to voluntarily participate in his medical exams.
