ORLANDO, FLORIDA — The mother of one of the slain victims in Sunday’s Orlando nightclub shooting has revealed the final text message exchange with her son had moments before he was killed.

Asleep in bed during the early morning hours of June 12, Mina Justice heard her cell phone buzzing. Text messages were coming from her son, Eddie Justice, who was at the club as Omar Mateen was carrying out his mass execution. Holed up inside a bathroom, Eddie’s first text came through at 2:06 a.m. It said “Mommy, I love you.”

His messages went on to tell her he was in the nightclub during a shooting, and for her to call 911. The mother and son continued texting for the next 30 minutes, until his messages stopped coming through. Eddie’s last messages was at 2:39 a.m., when he wrote: “He’s coming. I’m gonna die.”

Hours later, Mina Justice was notified that her 30-year-old son had been killed in the shooting.
