Criminals don’t usually want to get caught, but a man in Florida called 911 to report a rape he’d just committed.
The assault occurred in August of 2014, and, on Thursday, Joel Jones was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the crime, reports the Associated Press.
That is exactly the outcome he’d been hoping for when, nearly 2 years ago, he summoned a woman interested in working at his cleaning business to an empty office in Palm Beach Gardens.
While showing her around, Jones pulled a knife then sexually assaulted her, notes the Palm Beach Post.
As she was leaving, he dialed 911 to report what he’d done.
Jones later revealed he’d committed the vicious act so he could get into prison and take vengeance on the individual who killed his 14-year-old son, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Notably, this was not Jones’ first conviction for sexual battery, reports Vibe.
