Teens attack old lady on NYC subway when asked to take their feet off the seat

NEW YORK CITY — A pair of teenage girls were turned into police custody by their parents after attacking an elderly woman on a subway platform. The woman reportedly asked them to remove their feet so she could sit down, and they assaulted her moments later.

On June 2, the two girls were on a train heading to Manhattan when 78-year-old Norma Trotman approached them. Trotman said she was tired, and asked if one of the girls would take their feet off the seat so she could sit down.

The girl obliged, but when Norma left the train a few stops later, the two girls followed her. Within seconds, she was being beaten to the ground, and kicked in the head and all over her body. When they finished assaulting her, the two girls jumped on another train and left the scene.

In an effort to track down the assailants, police posted security cam photos to the public. One of the girls’ mothers happened to see them and turned her daughter in. The other girl was turned into custody shortly afterwards.

Assault charges are now pending for the attack.
