A variety of festivities and events were held throughout Korea today to celebrate Children's Day.
Kim Hye-sung takes us to one theme park in the city where the young visitors got an extra helping of fun.
Seoul Children's Grand Park welcomed thousands of young visitors on the day dedicated to them.
There are animals of all kinds to see and a series of fun events planned for the four-day weekend that starts with Children's Day on Thursday.
Near the main gate, giraffes use their long necks to reach high into treetops,... and elephants say hello to their young visitors.

"It's soooo big "

Flamingoes stand on one leg, showing off their beautiful pink feathers, as one young boy marveled at the sight.

"It's weird how they stand on one leg "

It's not easy to take pictures with real animals, but visitors can snap photos with theme park staff wearing animal masks.

"The theme of this year's Children's Day is Zoo Playground, and tickets are free for all children. We hope our dynamic events can give unforgettable memories to children."

At a face-painting event, both children and parents can unleash their creativity.
In the afternoon, families had picnics along the stream and relaxed in the shade.

"We don't have much time to spend together because of work, but I'm glad that we could come here on Children's Day,... relax and have a memorable time."

At the Children's Playground, kids can make sandcastles, climb on the rocks or play in the water all day until the park closes.

"Today, twice the usual number of visitors came to the theme park. Children were not only able to enjoy the beauty of nature, but also spend time with their parents on this special day.
Kim Hye-sung, Arirang News."
