DARPA Unveils Next Generation Armored Vehicle Concept

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA, recently awarded eight contracts to develop a next-generation armored vehicle.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA, recently awarded contracts to develop a next-generation armored vehicle. 

The new project is called the Ground X-Vehicle Technology or GXV-T and it aims to reverse the dual trends of sluggish vehicle speeds and mobility alongside rising costs associated with development and deployment. 

Such trends have been on the rise as the U.S. military has sought to protect ground-based armored vehicles from the increased threat of armor-piercing weapons. 

To ablate those trends, DARPA hopes the GXV-T project will be able to make significant headway in four distinct areas.
