50 dead in airstrike on Aleppo hospital: Syrian warplanes demolish MSF al-Quds hospital

ALEPPO, SYRIA — Nighttime airstrikes by Syrian warplanes in Aleppo have killed at least 61 people.

One of the deadly strikes hit al-Quds hospital, a Doctors Without Borders backed hospital in a rebel-held neighborhood. Doctors Without Borders reports 14 patients and three doctors were among the 27 dead at that site, including one of Syria’s last pediatricians, Mohammed Wasim Moaz. CNN reports that at least 50 were killed in the attack on the hospital.

Witnesses on the scene said the hospital was hit by a missile from a fighter jet, while others said the blast was of two heavy rockets, claiming it was a Russian air strike.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is blaming the Syrian government for the attack on the hospital.
