Stranded Whale is a folk-rock band based in Hong Kong. The band consists of Jabin Law (vocal, acoustic guitar), Tomii Chan (backing vocal, electric guitar), Hin Leung(bass) and Dean Li (drums, percussion).
Our band name was stimulated by one of Jabin’s songs, “Killer Whale”. A stranded whale is alone and helpless. It is doomed to die. But that might be freedom to it. It’s soon to be free from pain and released by the ocean.
Despite the fact that we are a band, interestingly, we are all of different music backgrounds. Jabin has been a solo singer-songwriter since 2012; Tomii is the lead guitarist of the Jazz Funk/Soul band Tri-Deuces and has been active in live session performance and soundtracking ; Hin has been a well-experienced session bassist who has worked with various pop singers ; Dean is a skilled drummer.
As a result, our chemical reaction might be dangerous, yet worth-risking.
