The Navy officially distributed Dixie cup hats to female recruits at its training command in Great Lakes, Illinois in efforts to make its uniforms more gender-neutral The caps will become a standard part of the women’s uniform on October 31 Nicknamed “dog dishes” and “squid lids,” the Dixie cups are just the first of numerous upcoming changes to the uniforms of female sailors including added zippers to their service dress blues
