Victory for Unions as Supreme Court ties 4-4

The nation’s public sector unions dodged a bullet Tuesday when the U.S. Supreme Court reached a tie vote.
The justices split 4-4 on whether public sector unions in 23 states can continue to collect mandatory fees from workers who choose not join the unions.
The tie resulted from a vacant seat created when Associate Justice Antonin Scalia died in February.
This came as a relief to union officials who feared the conservative justices were on the verge of striking down the pro-union law as a violation of free speech.
