Toxoplasma gondii, a parasite found in uncooked meat, water, and some feline feces, infects about 30 percent of the U.S. population, and researchers recently found an association between it and rage disorder.

Toxoplasma gondii,  a parasite found in meat, water, and some feline feces, infects about 30% of the US population, and researchers recently found an association between it and a rage disorder. 

A study led by scientists from the University of Chicago discovered that individuals who experience intermittent explosive disorder, or IED, are twice as likely to be Toxoplasma gondii carriers.

IED is a psychiatric condition that manifests in rage-filled outbursts typically disproportionate to the situation at hand.
