Trump shares headlines with Hitler, Mussolini and the KKK all in one weekend

'MERICA — Republican presidential candidate and businessman Donald Trump had an eventful weekend. So eventful, he occupied headline space alongside World War Two dictators Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, as well a former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

But did the GOP's most questionably haired billionaire finally lose the plot? Not really.

On Saturday, ex-Mexican President Felipe Calderon told CNN that the businessman's anti-immigration rhetoric was similar to Adolf Hitler's in 1930s Germany. That comparison was also shared by Vincente Fox, another former president of the U.S's southern neighbor. He also told CNN Friday that Trump reminds him of the German dictator.

Come Sunday, Trump refused to disavow ex-Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke during an interview on CNN. Trump said he didn't know anything about David Duke, or white supremacists.

Though the billionaire later clarified his position on David Duke, tweeting a video clip from a Friday press conference on Twitter. In the tweet he says, "As I stated at the press conference on Friday regarding David Duke I disavow."

On Sunday, Trump retweeted a quote from Benito Mussolini — the fascist Italian World War Two dictator that Hitler was BFFs with.

That tweet, it turns out, was a ploy by news site Gawker. In an article posted to their site, Gawker say they set up a Twitter trap for Trump last year in the form of a bot that quoted Mussolini, but attributed the tweets to Trump. The idea was to trick the Donald into retweeting it. And he did. Responding to the tweet on NBC, Trump said, "I know who said it, but what difference does it make if it's Mussolini or somebody else?"

Trump goes head to head with rival Republican presidential candidates for GOP nomination in this week's upcoming 'Super Tuesday'.
