MIAMI, FLORIDA — A young Miami woman is clinging to life following a brutal Valentine's Day attack by a new roommate that left her in a coma.
Catering company worker Danielle Jones, 23, had advertised for a roommate on Craigslist before 35-year Byron MItchell moved in.
Then just a few days after he moved in, Mitchell allegedly attacked Jones as she was getting ready to go out for her birthday.
The February 14 attack left Jones on life support with multiple lacerations to her face and a fractured skull.
Mitchell was arrested the next day and booked into the Metro West Detention Center.
Jones' cousin has since set up a GO FUND ME page to help pay medical costs for Danielle, who has been in a coma for six days.
Mitchell has been charged with attempted murder. He is claiming self defense and told police that Jones came at him first with a knife.
