Deadly attack on UN base in northern Mali

A UN base in northern Mali comes under mortar fire and an attack by a car bomb, in the latest in a series of attacks in the country. Malian forces are also attacked in Timubktu in an ambush.
Meanwhile, Kenyan Vice-President William Ruto wins a battle at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Recanted testimony will be barred in his trial, in a blow for prosecutors.
And campaigning wraps up in the Central African Republic ahead of Sunday's second round of voting. The poll is being billed as a chance for a fresh start in a country ravaged by conflict and poverty.
