State of emergency declared as massive blizzard hits eastern U.S.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The first major snowstorm is expected to hit the eastern United States beginning Friday. Upwards of 50 million people may be affected by the blizzard, which is expected to dump 27 to 30 inches on the nation's capital.

Mayor, Muriel Bowser, has already declared a state of emergency for Washington, D.C. Governor Pat McCrory has also preemptively declared a state of emergency for North Carolina.

People are snatching up snow supplies like crazy. Need a shovel to dig your way to work? Good luck finding a shop with one in stock.

Drivers are already having trouble staying on the road, and pedestrians are having trouble staying on their feet.

So bust out those skis, or bicycle with magical snow tires, to get where you need to go. Stock up on propane or wood to keep warm. And enter into a vegetative state to Netflix and chill until the plows come home.
