Madison Keys vs. Ana Ivanović | 2016 Australian Open Third Round | Highlights HD

Facing a tough opponent amid tough circumstances at Rod Laver Arena, Madison Keys has kept alive her Australian Open 2016 campaign. Keys, a Melbourne semifinalist last year, recovered from deficits in both the second and third sets to overcome No.20 seed Ana Ivanovic 4-6 6-4 6-4 in a dramatic, two-hour-plus match on Saturday night. Ivanovic played by far a cleaner first set, keeping her unforced errors to five as the 15th seed sprayed 13. Leading 5-4, Ivanovic then broke to love to pocket the opener when Keys committed three of those errors. Ivanovic then went up 1-0 in the second, before the match suddenly took a grave turn. The Serb’s coach, Nigel Sears, collapsed in the stands and required on-the-spot medical attention before being rushed to hospital. Play was delayed for almost an hour, yet when the players returned to the court and resumed, Ivanovic appeared to settle and moved ahead 4-2. Keys then found some rhythm with her stinging ground game, levelling at 4-4. She also began to perk up after appearing flat in the opening set, and demonstrated excellent court coverage to force an error to break for a 5-4 lead. Despite holding a swathe of break points in the 10th game, Ivanovic couldn’t convert them, and Keys sent the match into a decider. It was there that Ivanovic appeared to wrest control of proceedings; she celebrated animatedly as she secured a 3-0 lead. But just like in the second set, Keys stormed back, stunning Ivanovic with a series of withering blows and reeling off five consecutive games. The Serb ensured that Keys would be forced to serve for the match at 5-4, and saved two match points in the final game, the first with a clean backhand winner. Yet Keys – who nervously double-faulted her second match point away and finished the match with more than double Ivanovic's error tally – held firm. She blocked a short volley winner on a thrilling final point that Ivanovic couldn’t reach and raised her arms in triumph as she secured her place in the fourth round.
