Police officer saves abandoned newborn baby from cesspit

A sad but also heartwarming video has emerged from China of a police officer rescuing a newborn baby that was abandoned in a cesspit.

The video, captured by a witness near a local school in a village in Inner Mongolia on Monday, shows the officer standing inside the pit and gradually lifting up the naked baby who then gets wrapped up in a coat by some bystanders.

According to local media, the baby boy was immediately hospitalised after the rescue and is currently in good condition. Local police have carried out investigation trying to find the mother.
