CLAYTON COUNTY, GEORGIA — A rape suspect was arrested after he tried to force his victim to call her boyfriend during the sexual assault, but she called 911 instead.

According to a report by WSBTV, suspect Robert Giles, 27, is alleged to have kidnapped his victim in Hapeville, Georgia and driven less than nine miles to Starship Novelties and Gifts, an adult entertainment store in Jonesboro, Georgia.

Giles stopped in the parking lot around 4 a.m. on Monday so he could sexually assault his victim. But first he wanted her to call her boyfriend so he could listen to the rape.

She dialled 911 instead and it was her boyfriend. The 911 dispatcher played along, pretending to be her boyfriend and trying to talk the suspect out of raping the victim while he sent police to her rescue. Police arrived shortly after and caught Giles in the act, pulling him out of the car and arresting him on the spot.

Giles is facing false imprisonment and obstruction charges in addition to rape, and a case for kidnapping is being prepared by Hapeville police.
