Plane wheel collapse is probably what sent a Southwest flight to skid off runway after landing in Nashville

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE — A Southwest plane rolled off the runway after landing at Nashville International Airport on Tuesday evening.

The Boeing 737 aircraft, Southwest Flight 31, was carrying 133 passengers and five crewmembers on board. The plane was travelling from Houston Hobby Airport to Nashville International Airport, the Tennessean reported.

The accident took place as the plane was approaching the gate. Officials suspect a collapsed wheel may have caused the plane to skid off the runway, WKRN News 2 reported.

"We landed and we were coasting, and then we were bouncing up and down. Next thing you know, by the wing, it felt as if we were going to topple over," Reginald Smith Jr., a passenger on the flight told WKRN News 2.

The plane then rolled into a grassy area and became stuck. Eight people suffered minor injuries in the accident and have been treated and released from hospital.
