NEW YORK — A 55-year old Chinese woman has been charged with trying to bribe a customs official at a New York airport with sex after she and her daughter were caught with a huge amount of undeclared luxury goods.

Hong Yang was arrested this weekend over the July incident at John F. Kennedy International Airport after she, her sister and adult daughter arrived on an Air France flight from Paris.

Customs and Border Patrol officers opened their luggage to discover a range of undeclared goods including designer bags, jewelry, watches and a fur coat worth an estimated $160,000.

Yang then allegedly passed one of the officers a note with her number, before offering him a watch and $10,000 in order to let them off.

When that failed she then tried to bribe the now-wired officer with sex and a trip to China.

Yang was released without charges according to her lawyer, but was arrested and charged with customs fraud over the weekend as she tried to leave for China.

She was released on Monday on $250,000 bail.
