PARIS — After the terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13, Russia is showing solidarity to France by donating a puppy that will replace Diesel, the police dog killed during a raid in Parisian suburb Saint Denis.

According to Russian Deputy Interior Minister Igor Zubov, the puppy, called Dobrynya, was named after a folklore hero.

After the recent attacks in Paris, the the dog represents a "symbol of the unity of our nations in implacable fight against terrorism," Zubov added. Like Diesel, Dobrynya will work with the French police force. The gift was described by the French Ambassador in Russia as "a gesture that comes from the heart."

France and Russia have recently agreed to exchange intelligence information on Isis to make their bombing campaigns in Syria more effective.
